I had the honor of being the lead project manager of this international project with Quilling Card LLC. In honor of the company’s 10 year anniversary and their declaration of National Quilling Day. It was my suggestion during one of our brainstorms to attempt a Guinness World Record. The idea was enthusiastically adopted and shortly became two Guinness World Record titles instead of one.
I led both the US and Vietnam team in organizing, planning, and attempting the records; beginning the project in the USA and then traveling to the factory in Vietnam for the official attempts on April 8, 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City. Quilling Card LLC received certificates for Largest Quilling Paper Mosaic (image) and Most People Quilling Simultaneously under my direct supervision and management.
The mosaic stands 15.09 ft tall by 19.07 ft wide for a total of 287.77 sq feet. The attempt for Most People Quilling Simultaneously was achieved with 300 participants.
From the brainstorming session where the first mention of the record attempts was made, to the official attempt date and receiving the titles, it was exactly 8 weeks and 1 day. Following the official attempts I oversaw the creation of books and fliers, a website landing page, social media posts, videos, press and outreach to museums for the next display location of the mosaic.
